Memories of Beautiful Moments – Artist GAZMEND FREITAG to participate in the Diary Day Exhibition sponsored by ::kunst-projekte::!
For the first time, Kosovo Albanian native and internationally active artist Gazmend Freitag is showing four of his paintings at the exhibition in Vienna’s Ottakring district, where they have been on display since October 20. The official opening takes place on November 16, as part of an evening of readings.
After his large, highly acclaimed exhibition of Albanian Impressionism this past January at art.wallensteinplatz and his involvement with dance pictures at Vienna’s renowned Svabek Dance School, this is the third presentation this year of works from this versatile artist by curator Ursula Pfeiffer.
Gazmend FREITAG always focuses in his artistic work on the human figure and portraits, demonstrating it in a female nude as seen from behind, a woman’s figure (“The Model”) and two floral still lifes. All his works embody “beautiful moments”, which the artist has grasped in the style of Classic Modernism as an interplay between Impressionism and Expressionism.
In addition, Gazmend Freitag’s works contain numerous other motifs: autobiographical elements, the landscape of his birthplace (Pataqani i Poshtem), numerous portraits of people, childhood memories, studies of nudes, still lifes and much more. He is quite versatile in demonstrating his talent in different techniques such as graphics, oils, pencil drawings, chalk and ink.
Since 2004 Gazmend Freitag has lived in Linz, where he is not just been a successful artist with a series of exhibitions to his credit, but also someone seeking to maintain close contact and liaising with other artists.
Exhibited:
NUDE WITH RED CLOTH 2011, oil on canvas 60 x 60 cm
RED TULIPS 2008, oil on canvas 50 x 40 cm
FLOWERS IN CRYSTAL 2005, oil on canvas 40 x 50 cm
THE MODEL) 2013, oil on canvas 60 x 90 cm
The work of Gazmend Freitag attests to the mental dexterity of an extremely ambitious artist.
About the Artist
Gazmend FREITAG was born in Pataqani i Poshtem, Kosovo and currently lives in Linz, Upper Austria. He was studying at the Faculty of Law in Pristina when the political situation in his homeland forced him to immigrate to Germany, where he lived until 2003.
He has dedicated himself to his childhood passion of art, using graphics, oil paints, ink and pencil to highlight issues such as femininity, landscapes and portraits. In Linz, he studied nude drawing under the tutelage of Annelies Oberdanner. Freitag participated in 2013 with the Aleksander Moisiu Association of Albanian Authors and Creative Artists at the ILLYRICUM Anthology. In 2014 he joined ::kunst-projekte::, an association organizing exhibitions in Upper Austria and Vienna and in the same year participated in the 1st Art Biennial in Verona, Italy and at the ARTEM exhibition held at the Slovak Radio Gallery in Bratislava, Slovakia.
